Editorial notes:
Description: These are the plans for the Convention / Sports arena complex as represented by H.R. 16261, "a bill to authorize construction of the Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial Bicentennial Civic Center in downtown Washington." This booklet was prepared by the National Capital Planning Commission in concert with the Washington Board of Trade to present three design possibilities to the President and the Congress. As the central planning agency for the federal government, the Commission is responsible for preserving the appearance and design of the original L'Enfant plan for the District. The National Capital Planning Commission gives direction and final approval over the use of federal land and construction of buildings in the National Capital Region in order to protect the historical integrity of Washington D.C. urban planning.
