Description: | Two days after the open letter, President Nixon responds with a letter to Congressman Kenneth J. Gray (D-Ill.), chairman of the House Public Works Committee, expressing his full support of H.R. 16261 to Gray as his committee was currently reviewing the legislation before the bill made its way to a vote before the full House and Senate. Nixon provides an unintended foreshadow into why Congress did not approve the Eisenhower Civic Center project when he referenced how the project will be financed. |
