Editorial notes:
Description: The National Gallery of Art, the munificent gift to the nation of the late Andrew W. Mellon, is one of the most beautiful structures of its kind in the world. It is a huge marble building, 785 feet long, located in the Nation's Capital between Constitution Avenue and the Mall. The first great art collection given to the Gallery was that of Mr. Mellon, and the second, the famous collection of Samuel H. Kress of New York.
